The “3rd International Symposium on Information Management in a Changing World” (or IMCW2012), organized by the Department of Information Management of Hacettepe University, will take place in Ankara, Turkey, from 19-21 September 2012. “E-Science and Information Management” being the main theme, IMCW2012 aims to bring together both researchers and information professionals to discuss the implications of e-science for information management.

Accepted papers and posters will appear in the proceedings book to be published by Springer under its CCIS series (http://www.springer.com/series/7899) and the Symposium web site. Papers that appear in Springer’s CCIS series are indexed in Thomson Reuter’s Conference Proceedings Citation Index.

This is an opportune time for IMCW2012 to review the challenges for research libraries and information professionals in the collaborative, networked, and data intensive e-science environment. Such challenges range from information literacy to intellectual property rights, from developing open access data repositories for e-science to using digital tools for data processing and visualization, and from collection development and management to reference services and e-science librarianship.
