[Sigiii-l] RGU launches new online distance-learning MBA in Information Management

      Robert Gordon University (RGU) in Aberdeen has launched a new Information Management MBA at industry's request, addressing the recognition of the strategic importance of Information Management by public and private sector organisations.

      The programme also tackles the gap in provision of professional education for existing and aspiring Information Managers.
      Information and its effective management are central to the success of business and a knowledge-based society. The emphasis of RGU's Information Management MBA is on strategic management of information and knowledge assets in organisations rather than on IT or Information Systems.
      The MBA is designed for professional practice at middle and higher levels of management, for individuals with a degree in any subject discipline who have managerial experience in data management, information management, records management or knowledge management.
      Dr. Laura Muir, MBA Information Management Course Leader said, "The course has been developed following increasing demand from businesses, particularly in the oil and gas sector. The focus is very much on the strategic importance of information management and is aimed at professionals who have moved in to information management from different scientific, technical or administrative business functions."
      The course will be delivered by online distance learning via RGU's award-winning virtual campus providing flexible study, allowing professionals to learn at a time that suits them with the support of lecturers and fellow students.
