Dear Colleagues,
The ASIS&T Special Interest Group on International Information Issues (SIGIII) is pleased to announce that it will be able to sponsor ASIS&T membership in 2008
of another group of deserving information professionals from developing countries for complimentary ASIS&T memberships (the financial burden of which would otherwise be prohibitive).
This is made possible thanks to the generous support of ASIS&T SIGs, Chapters and members at large.
We are now soliciting nominations of candidates for the InfoShare Membership Award (2008).
Please send recommendations of deserving candidates to Vika Kravchyna (vika[dot]kravchyna[at]airus3d[dot]com) and Caryn Anderson (caryn[dot]anderson[at]simmons[dot]edu).
Please include a Curriculum Vitae ( with full mail and email addresses) and a brief description of why the person is deserving the membership, including his/her willingness to promote
ASIS&T within their networks and build relationships between ASIST&T and the national/regional organizations. Awardees will be decided by a vote of the SIG III officers at the end of January 2008.
Each membership award will be for one year, with the possibility of renewal for a second year if the new member proves to be a strong advocate for ASIS&T in their home country during the course of the year. Awardees will be asked to submit a report on their activities by next year's Annual Meeting, which may include, but are not limited to:
- sharing ASIS&T publications (the Bulletin of ASIS&T and JASIS&T) with other colleagues
- promoting the SIG-III international paper contest among colleagues
- serving as a contact/coordinator for ASIS&T members traveling to your area who may be able to speak about ASIS&T and information science
-helping in strengthening the relationships between ASIST&T and the national/regional information science organizations
- sponsoring lectures on information science topics in one's area on behalf of ASIS&T
With your help we look forward to welcoming new members to ASIS&T from across the globe, especially from countries that have never had ASIST members or have limited representation in ASIST. Please start thinking about candidates among your networks and send your nominations.
Deadline for submission is December 15, 2007
Thank you and best!
Vika Kravchyna
