In last year discussions, multiculturalism was highlighted as a key
topic for the second edition
(http://www.asis.org/SIG/SIGIII/plaza.htm.)
In his Editorial "From the information society to the knowledge
society", Philippe Quéau (former) director of the Information Society
Division of UNESCO (UNISIST Newsletter, Vol. 30, n°2, 2002, p. 3)
notes:
"Four principles are essential for the development of equitable
knowledge societies:
* Cultural diversity
* Equal access to education
* Universal access to information (particularly in the public domain)
* Freedom of expression
Knowledge societies should be firmly based on a commitment to human
rights and fundamental freedoms, including freedom of expression."
What shows that the ideas and visions of the laymen/women can be as
inspired as those of the guys who sit at the top.
So don't be shy, share your views, make a difference, and make a great
non-conventional, Global Plaza session next October.
