Interaction designers + Lead interaction designers – Central NYC service design studio – $80 – 150k
Hello everyone,
We have just started working with a new client, on an exclusive basis (you will only hear about these roles throughus), based in Central NYC, and they are looking to hire UX and interaction designers at various levels, from associate to lead. The salary brackets are between $85-150k, but they are looking for a very specific type of designer.
This global studio (not an agency) are quite a rarity in New York. A small, agile, collaborative, UX focused design studio, creating more than one touch point for their clients (service design in the truest sense). They are platform and tech agnostic, but more than half of their long-arch client engagements begin with either a mobile or tablet piece. From delivery of this, they then capture and work across multiple touch points for their clients (as their work makes the other touch points look deficient). The San Francisco and NYC offices work together on projects, sharing resources, clients and projects. This means that the NYC team get to work on some meaty, east coast style product and service design, rather than Facebook apps or marcomms material.
The production process is as you would imagine; lots of time and freedom to gather requirements (both business anduser) through workshops, interviews, surveys and questionnaires; whatever is necessary and appropriate. From here, there is lots of collaborative sketching, whiteboarding, paper prototyping, often times involving the clients themselves. Again, whatever is necessary to get a viable concept, that is able to be tested in some way. >From this, the final design direction is quantified and consolidated, and hi-fidelity prototypes are produced, then on to build and delivery. Throughout this process, interaction designers, visual designers, creative technologists and developers, all work hand in hand, in the same room, overseen by the design leads and design director. Everyone’s voice is heard, regardless of his or her discipline, and everyone is expected to contribute creative concepts at each stage of the project.
There are so few agencies or studios working in this way in NYC, creating comparable products to the same high standard, it really is quite a unique proposition. If you’re tired of working only to business requirements, with no access to users, no research time orbudget, and on ultimately quite shallow and disposable projects, then please do drop me a line so I can give you some more info on these roles.
Kind regards,
