[Sigia-l] [Iai-Members] A quick survey on reactions to visual design.

Thanks, Betsy, you've hit the nail on the head.
Jonathan, I'm not questioning any concepts, but I do think there may be a
physiological reason for a pattern over 2/3 of us have observed - at least
my simple survey suggests this. Mind you, I was not looking to gather Jakob
Nielsen type statistics (47% of all respondents are dumber than the
facilitator). Rather, I wanted to see if a tendency existed. It clearly
does.
I'd like to write this up, not as a scientific article, but as something
that might encourage scientific research by those who are trained in the
appropriate specialties. Maybe it IS time for our community to learn a bit
about brain surgery :-) (or at least brain anatomy).
Cheers,
Eric

It depends. I don't question the basic scientific concept of gravity, or
increasing average global temperature, or that humans need water to survive.
Or that the brain sends signals to the nerve endings, some of which result
in sensations perceived as pleasant and some not. I don't claim to be a
neurologist or a cognitive scientist for that matter, but I do think this is
something that has been established as a *basic* concept that we are now in
the process of fleshing out more, as Eric is attempting to do with his
survey.

I would hope that questioning basic concepts is at least part of what
this list is all about :-)
