This, pretty much. Email lists as a communication form have been largely superseded by other formats. Probably overall for the better. 

Its ironic in a way that a group focussed partly on user experience innovation would still use a mailing list :)

What we really need is a location-aware iOS app with an augmented reality layer on top of a cloud-based th... oh no wait. That's not it. 

How about a nice photocopied fanzine?
