I thought we were talking about gender and design, but now it seems like
we're just talking about good and bad design.

Are some colors for iPods good design while other colors are less good,
or even bad? Assuming that the iPod itself it identical, and that the
colors are solid and not patterns. Whatcha think?

As to the rest of your questions: Of course, to me, there are good and
bad designs. Some can be measured empirically, others are simply a
matter of taste, class, culture, and other factors. I don't think
polarizing design between "what design elites think is good" and
"everything else" is helpful. "Is design dead" is a wholly tiresome
question, avoiding conversations about the aforementioned taste, class,
and culture.
