Wrt the design, a search on Google suggests that 'Hello Kitty'
is pink: http://images.google.co.uk/images?q=hello%20kitty

And Swarovski crystals are always popular.

It makes perfect sense to me that a Japanese company designed this. The
laptop is kawaii, no more, no less, and I think that you need to look at it
in that context:
