In the interview, not at the Keynote, he was actually doubting Apple's
ability to execute a groundbreaking UI/UX for a mobile. What I thought was
funny is that Gates will soon remain the only guy still talking about
"partners." Bach, Ozzie, Zune and XBox people have moved on and now realize
that the UX demands an integrated/systems approach, as opposed to a
"partners patchwork" one. Some "partners" may still be smarting from "Plays
for Sure." ;-)
