My team is growing and I'm looking for a Sr. Visual Designer

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for developing the "look and feel" of AP's
new, interactive news and information products and services. 

The Sr. Visual Designer will create visually compelling design systems
for high-profile AP products and services for the global newspaper,
broadcast and commercial online markets. You will apply your knowledge
of branding, typography, color, and interaction design to create the
visual systems for software, web applications, web sites, and
interactive media in the AP product family.  Your designs will promote
the usability and desirability of AP's products.

You will work on various inter-departmental project teams and develop
the "look and feel" for Web sites and applications, wireless
applications, and products and services for other delivery platforms.

Specifically, the Sr. Visual Designer will:
- Develop design concepts and systems that support the business goals,
user goals, and the AP brand.
- Design and implement visual design systems for AP products including
page comps, site grids, icons, graphical assets, animated GIFs,
interactive flash modules etc.
- Develop and maintain style guides (layout rules, typography
annotations, etc.) that describe user interfaces.
- Create interactive prototypes as needed for concept or usability
testing.
- Provide input on visual design for Product Design Interface Standards.
- Mentor other visual designers. 
- Contribute to the Product Design group's knowledge base of
user-centered design.

REQUIREMENTS
- At least 5 years of creative and production experience designing Web
sites and/or applications, including concepts, full-fledged design
systems, and style guides (layout rules, typography annotations) that
describe user interfaces.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Graphic Design, Interface Design,
Interaction Design, Communication Design or a related field. 
- Proficiency in a variety of design tools including Photoshop,
Illustrator, and Flash.
- Expert knowledge of interface design standards and user experience as
it relates to design.
- Excellent understanding of HTML and CSS, and how design compositions
translate to code.
- Familiarity with technical issues around web development and ability
to work constructively with development teams.
- Demonstrated ability to work on collaborative teams or independently.
- Ability to manage production and coordinate with the development team
to launch a Web site/product.
- Ability to work on multiple projects at once.
- Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to produce user-centered design systems as
evidenced by a portfolio or samples of work.  

PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Experience designing news and/or information interfaces.
- Ability to code interfaces in W3C compliant HTML/CSS, JavaScript,
and/or Flash.
- Ability to develop the information architecture for Web
sites/applications.
