While scrolling text is pretty hateful, unless it
kills some business goal or metric, you can't give a
good reason why not. You're designing something to
solve business problems; being beautifully designed
and branded does not cross most client's radar.
I once argued against scrolling text because the
contents would take longer to load than the average
time on page over the last five years. They *could*
present the content that way, but no one would see the
data.
I won another argument against scrolling because I had
adorable video of users trying to chase the text to
click the link. As it was vital content, we were able
to make an argument that the information needed to be
displayed differently.
You can argue that it violates accessibility
guidelines.
But if it's not THAT important, doesn't compromise
their mission or metrics, take a deep breath, and let
it go. I promise there's worse for bigger, more
important, more visible companies out there.
