[Sigia-l] Blogs

I found nearly two dozens emails regarding my blurb about having a blog.
(Thanks :-) Sorry, I didn't mean to tease: I do have a blog, but it's not
public. Recently, I lost a bet so now I'm obliged to turn it into a public
blog. It'll happen soon.

More to the point, I've been looking at blogging software. Do I have high
expectations or is this not a stellar segment of our industry? Customizing
some of these 'official' templates is unnecessarily complicated. What do
people here recommend?

The whole hosting biz is another nightmare. Starting from a given blogging
software, following through their recommendations for hosting companies or
doing it on your own is really not very good UX at all. It may be easy to
put up a free and simple site, but more than that it gets complicated in a
hurry. I don't care about the cost, but that apparently doesn't buy me piece
of mind. Are you using a UX-friendly host?

Also everybody is going nuts with 'widgets'. And yet:

What's up with that? Just growing pains?
