The Montague Institute will hold a teleconference roundtable discussion on
September 5, 2007 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm Eastern time.
The topic of discussion is how to migrate metadata from traditional data
structures such as controlled vocabularies and thesauri to a richer and more
flexible structure called the Semantic Web. For a list of discussion topics,
see http://www.montague.com/roundtable37.html.
Barbara McGlamery of Time Interactive will tell how her team used a Semantic
Web standard called RDF (Resource Description Framework) to add new kinds of
relationships to enhance search and navigation on the Entertainment Weekly
Web site. As a metadata architect working with real world publishing
applications, Barbara's presentation will be easier to understand and more
practical than most other discussions on the Semantic Web.
A basic primer on the Semantic Web is also being offered on September 4. See

Space is limited, so reserve your spot early.
