Hmm. I never heard of anyone attempting to fund localization for
intra-borough populations. Usually the assumption is that they'll read
the English, Spanish or, in NYC, depending on the content, one of the
other quasi-standard languages that the MTA uses. I'm thinking of the
sign on the #1 train about needing to be in one of the first 5 cars if
you want to exit at South Ferry. I believe that is posted in English
plus French, Spanish, German, Italian, Korean, and maybe Chinese...
not 100% sure.
