Well, think of enterprise projects from, say, 10-15 years ago and consider
how long it took to develop and deploy them. That processes has been
considerably shortened. Now there are many reasons for this progress, not
all of it related to the agility of the technologies/methodologies involved,
but expectations have been raised and the trend has been set.

37 Signals are advocates. Advocates move the needle and raise the bar,
necessarily breaking best practices along the way. So how their reality maps
to the fat part of the "ordinary-reality" Bell curve begs the question as to
whether they are a fad or a harbinger of things to come.

I'm curious why you think it wouldn't work with consultants.
