I agree that it's important to read the 37 Signals/Getting Real
methodology in context.

They explicitly state that its a methodology that works for rapidly
bringing to market web based applications. They're looking at projects
very short development time frames (measured in weeks not months or
years).

I'd go further than that and say that it only works in an environment
where there are no 3rd party expectations to be managed and no
milestone related payments! (ie. agency or consultant entity).

I do think that its really interesting to understand their approach
and I think that methodologies need to become more efficient in the
future.

For most of us, we'll need to give a fair amount of thought to what
aspects of the Getting Real methodology we could adopt in our own
projects.
