[Sigia-l] Being considerate of others (Off Topic Posts)

Now, really. In the brief few years I've been on this list I have seen
and participated in discussions that have included taxonomy, user
testing and which states really comprise the Midwest. Some of these were
more interesting or germane than others, at least to me. Sometimes the
discussion was lively, other times everyone seemed to take a powder and
let it die.
Rarely did anyone try to squelch any topic. It seemed that everything
even remotely related to IA was fair game. I usually managed to glean
something out of these discussions, however brief or arcane.
To those of you who would be the arbiters of topics on this list,
consider this: If you really think a subject is "off topic," give it
the pocket veto. Instead of squawking about things being "off topic,"
initiate a discussion yourselves. Throw it on the table and see who runs
with it.
