Some. The average user (I hear the groans already) is never formally
trained on browsers. It's the one piece of software that nearly
everyone learned from watching over someone's shoulder. Browsers don't
ship with instructions anymore. Without formal training, people invent
workarounds for perceived limitations, many of which actually suffice
(like typing URIs into search engines).
People routinely tell me that the browser is the Internet, confuse
radio buttons with checkboxes and think cookies are viruses. The basic
information just isn't in their hands, but they've managed to get by
without it.
