And I chime in:

If one has high personal ethical standards, I cannot see why one
would need a special set of professional ethics. And isn't it a moral
impossibility to lower one's personal standards to meet less
demanding professional ethics?

Guidelines for navigating through areas of grayness are useful ("I
just went freelance. What do I do if a former agency client contacts
me?"). But guidelines and ethics are two very different things.

Life is not about rules; it's about choices. Our ethics help us make
the right choices.

Cheers,
Eric
