[Sigia-l] A matter of control

Dedicated to the number of people who inquired offline about my sig. :-)

Creative, the company whose CEO thought iPods were worse than cheap Chinese
junk and gave us the impossibly oxymoronic Zen Neeon and Zen Sleek, is
attempting to re-write history and future by substituting ZenCast for
Podcast:

"Podcasts, short for Personal On Demand broadCast, are audio files you can
download into any MP3 player or computer."

<http://www.zencast.com/about/>

It's the most delicious example of trying the control the definition of a
product/market to control the outcome.

It's also a remarkable example of what happens when products are designed by
committee and when there's no Design leadership.

Frankly, I find Creative, its mission, branding, products, marketing, etc.,
a great source of inspiration for slides for my client presentations on what
not to do these days.

"Whoever controls the definition, controls the outcome."
