Dave,

a couple of questions:
- are you saying that engineers can't be designers? Or that engineers 
and designers have cultural differences with doctors and lawyers?
- are you saying that members of any profession 
{engineers|designers|doctors|lawyers}, on the basis of their training, 
cannot be effective practitioners of Information Architecture?

Not trying to put words in your mouth (for that would be Bushism), just 
curious.
