Does anyone have advice for conducting a stakeholder analysis? How do
you select the appropriate stakeholders and then relay this to the
client to get their buy-in?
I'm particularly interested in any ideas for handling this politically -
how do you tell someone "thank you for your interest, but..." and has
this worked effectively without causing political problems?

I've had involvement in some projects lately where the number of
stakeholders participating in weekly meetings has gotten completely out
of hand (e.g., 25+ clients representing various departments with many
not really contributing). To date, this has been managed by project
managers and just isn't working efficiently at all.

Any thoughts or examples on how to manage the number of stakeholders
would be appreciated.
