As Jobs would tell you (and he did in an article I linked to recently),
design is an all-encompassing endeavor.

What makes the "iPod phenomenon" what it has become is the *overall* system
design: hardware, software, DRM, infrastructure, one-click purchase,
partnerships, marketing, etc. You take away any one part of that tightly
integrated *solution* you don't have a winner. After all, look at MSFT or
any number of other companies in the same market. They can't compete with
AAPL because while AAPL designs solutions, all they can offer are gadgets.

This *is* design. A solution. An end-to-end process. An experience.
