That's quite an absolute generalization.  I use about a dozen open
source tools, all of which I find to be very well designed for my needs.
Many of these are even successful among mainstream retail markets.

inaccurate."  Well said sir.

While I believe that sustainable product success lies in designing for
the needs of a target audience, we shouldn't dismiss so flippantly the
power of packaging and marketing.  Technically and experientially
inferior products often win in the marketplace on nothing but packaging
and marketing alone.  In some cases the product *is* the packaging.
