Description for Senior Information Architect
Job Summary
The Senior Information Architect works closely with our clients to translate
business rules and practices into functional requirements for large,
media-rich, web-based projects. Merging various disciplines such as UI
Design, Development, Usability, Strategy, Systems Integration, and
Information Science, you are responsible for executing the structure and
user experience of the project. You will author and oversee the
documentation serving as the blueprint for site development, manage content,
and lead the project team. A key part of your responsibility lies in
executing the vision by which the front-end of the site will interact with
the underlying systems.
Requirements:
Must have knowledge of user interface design principles, human factors, user
centered design processes, interaction design guidelines, usability
methodologies, industry standards and trends, platform standards and
software development.
Must have solid project management experience, excellent analytic and
communication skills and the ability to work and lead in a team environment.
Must have knowledge of IA tools, specifically: Omnigraffle, MSVisio, and
MSOffice. Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, HTML, DHTML, XML,
Java, Dreamweaver, Macromedia Director is a plus.
Must understand and be able to review usability test feedback.
Must understand and employ a customer-centered approach, have an excellent
track record designing consumer applications UI; and a good understanding of
web-based applications.
Must have the ability to design navigation, labeling, searching and
organization systems for web applications development, to conduct user
experience testing, to conceptualize information systems design and
translate into interface requirements and make design recommendations based
on usability findings and standard design practices.
Accountable for the creation, presentation and validation of information
architecture deliverables: conceptual diagram, content inventory, navigation
maps and wire frames.
Extensive portfolio of flowcharts/hierarchy maps, blueprints.
Minimum BS/BA degree required (MA/MS preferred), with multidisciplinary
backgrounds such as psychology, computer science, information sciences,
commerce/business Library Science, Human Computer Interaction.
5+ years of experience in web information architecture and/or development of
websites in a professional development environment, experience in Sr. IA/IA
consultant role on corporate websites, preferably with dynamic, content
managed sites.
