[Sigia-l] is it just me, or is it really hard to find IAs rig ht now?

Just chiming in as a fairly recent job-switcher (October 2004)
In Raleigh NC, where I was, there were few jobs labeled "IA". I applied for
many jobs that had the titles of usability specialist, human factors
specialist, etc. I found that although my previous title was Senior
Usability Specialist/IA, I had to do a lot of selling of my skills because I
did not have a degree in Information Science, HF, or whatever, despite the
fact that I had worked in the field for 5+ years.
I expanded my search and found the market much richer in Atlanta and other
places across the country. I have heard of a number of organizations here in
the Atlanta area looking for people.
My summary: those organizations that "get" the value of an IA "get it"
clearly, and I suspect that they are pulling in employees much more easily
than those that don't, at least here in the Southeast.
