Hello all...

My team is about to embark on a process of refining an existing web
services application to make it conform to USA accessibility standards,
as outlined in Tier 1 of the 508 guidelines.

If anyone has any war stories (success or failure) related to this sort
of effort, white papers or case studies that are publicly accessible, or
any words of wisdom as we head down this path, I would be forever
grateful to this community!

In addition, I am planning to set up a fairly robust testing environment
where we might test the results according to various accessibility
challenges, such as viewing the screens with high contrast settings, and
viewing using a screen reader application.  Can any of you suggest
screen readers that are in common use for people with disabilities? Any
suggestions on test scenarios that would be useful for us to validate
our work as we drive towards compliance?
