That may be, but this is not really a "link." It's as generic as you're
going to get: "Next Item."

They would be useful in a section with items that are meant to be
sequentially accessed. Case in point is thumbnails, a pet peeve of mine. You
click on a thumbnail to see the bigger picture, you go either to a new page
or a popup window and there's no next/prev links: arrgh!

But as a random navigation method they are as useful as your readers want to
be serendipitous. Who has time for that? :-)
