No, no. By "designed well", I mean something is identified by the community 
of designers as something they are proud of. (That's why I put it into 
quotes.) Various design artifacts are constantly being promoted as "well 
designed". That's all I was refering to.

I agree that performance is part of design. But it's not necessarily a 
consideration when something is pronounced as being "designed well."

Ok. Poorly chosen words. Jeez. :)

What I *meant to say* was, "if I've made you step back and reconsider what 
is good design and what isn't, I've accomplished my goal." Now, I'm sure 
you do this without my help on a regular basis, but I'd like to think our 
work has *some* influence on how your work evolves going forward.

If it doesn't, then I'd like to know how we can do better. After all, it is 
the world of designers that we serve.
