This recent discussion has been very interesting.

I am an IA in NYC with 5 years experience, 10 years interactive
experience, and a Masters in Information Science. I'm currently in a
contract position at a company that is very supportive of my work.
There is no reason I'd think of leaving this position except that it
isn't full-time.

However, I've been casually looking for a couple months now for exactly
that reason. Unfortunately, I've almost exclusively seen openings for
contract positions. Since this is a good situation, why would I leave
this contract position for another that might not be? And if I were out
of work now, I'd almost certainly be holding out for a full-time or
long-term contract over a couple weeks or months of freelance work and
than another scramble to find work when that project is over.

Maybe that is the debate many IAs have and why it is hard to find
qualified IAs - Why would they leave one contract/freelance position
for another?

Michael
