Exactly, so we need to be at the drawing board. And we need to design an
architecture for the information that needs to be communicated. True, if
there is no user there is no need for information. But structuring the
information is what we do best.

By doing what our name (IA) states we do, we can move up the food chain. I
personally hold the believe that a CIO should really be a Chief Information
Officer instead of what is usually the case: a Chief Information Systems
Officer. Information is an important company asset and structuring it is a
job that exists out of the internet scope in which we seem to be trapped.
The view of information as a company asset suggests a more complex field of
IA. Not only should we consider the UX, but also compliance, security,
quality (correct, consistent, current, complete) etc. Now there's a reason
to move up the food chain if I've ever seen one.
