Bruce,

On almost all of the content based sites I've worked on, the site
statistics show that around 1/4 and 1/3 of the people who view one page,
never make it to a second page.

Personally, I want to maximize the chances that someone will see what
they're looking for when they come to the site, and I think an Intro
works against that.
