Which BTW (IIRC) is less onerous than the requirements to enter the USA, for
those of us further afield. I know a few academics that have balked at
attending conferences in the US due to the current regime. I'm not totally
unsympathetic to their concerns.

Whatever the politics, or the validity of those views*, in the end it does
come down to a personal decision to travel, and traveling to Canada would
just be an easier decision for some.
