Yes, the notion is about as old as PONG too. :-) This is (first Xerox PARC)
and then Apple HotSauce from the mid '90s. You could fly around a version of
(the then leading web directory) Yahoo in HotSauce, pretty much like this
animation. Here's a zombie page for HotSauce:

That they used the Chicago/Charcoal typeface in this animation is a nice,
futuristically-nostalgic touch. :-)
