So, here's the thing: we've come together as a
community. When you get together as a group, the right
of the individual to behave however they want gets
tempered for the good of the whole. 

(Remember reading that whole deal in high school
government class about how that man has come out of
the woods to live in society, giving up his wildness
for civilization?)

Dick has made a fine list of guidelines for this list,
which he posted sometime yesterday, but they really do
need to be enforced. It would be mighty nice to have
off topic range wars publicly ended. 

I think the fact that we're all having this discussion
for the umpteenth time proves that this is not a Ziya
problem.

The anonymous nature of the internet makes it easy to
breech all kinds of social conventions. I doubt that
any of us would go up to another person and tell them
that they're stupid or inept and not expect
consequences. 

It's not censorship to tell someone to stop being
rude.

Think it's too stupid to waste your time on it? Delete
key. Less time than flaming. 

Know your question is basic? Use the subject line to
clearly label that you're a newbie.

You want to be cranky? Great. Keep your crankiness to
the subject at hand, and not at list members. 

Wanna rumble? Take it off-list.
