[Sigia-l] IA and Prototype Theory

I'm just starting work on my Master's thesis at the University of Oslo. In
this thesis, I'm hoping to be able to combine my interest in IA with my
interest in cognitive linguistics--particularly prototype theory (see
http://www.psybox.com/web_dictionary/Prototypetheory.htm for a quick
definition). No-one in either of the departments I'm associated with at my
University has done any research in combining these two areas, and I'm
finding nothing association the two on the 'net, so I'm wondering if this
is some kind of a pipe dream. I'm interested to hear if any of you have
any experience with prototype theory, and if you've thought about any ways
in which you might apply it to your work in information
architecture. Also, I wonder if any of you came to IA from a background in
linguistics, and how that's affected your perspective.
