In a previous lifetime one worked in BBCi New Media. Though one did
not work on the team doing this one can advise that if you take a look
at the BBC search you can see just this approach in action. The people
in BBC Search use their search logs to map common search terms to what
they think are the best BBC sites, and the best Web sites covering a
particular topic and place these at the top of the search results page.
They also use this approach to map common misspellings to pages of
interest.
