[spam] RE: [Sigia-l] organizing pictures

I don't make that many - rarely more than 1 download a month - but I
keep them in a folder like yours. I prefer to streamline them though,
with more root folder and fewer subfolders, like this:

My Pictures
- 2003 01-Jan 01
- 2003 01-Apr 10
- 2003 01-Nov 11
- 2003 01-Dec 25 Christmas
- 2004 01-Jan 02
- 2004 01-Jan 09 Holiday
- 2004 01-Jan 10 Birthday
- 2004 02-Feb 01

You can see how this wouldn't scale all that well because it has a
root-level folder for every day of every month of every year.

On the other hand, since date-indexing is so intuitive and effort
efficient, finding the correct folder is still a snap. I would argue
that locating and opening a specific folder is at least as fast as your
more-explicit-yet-more-complex structure.

(It actually gets easier with *more* folders because the progression
from month-to-month and year-to-year becomes more obvious to quick
scanning.)
