[Sigia-l] Dropdown Menus listing states, regions

Just redesigned a site that acts as a business for sale portal. One of the
most used functions of the site is searching for businesses for sale.

We currently have a dropdown menu that lists US states, Canadian provinces,
but also groups US into Regions. The feedback that we have gotten so far
hasn't been really good, and I really don't care how it's displayed either.

What are some effective ways of dealing with this?
