Job Description:
----------------------------------------

This position is needed to support a new client development effort in 
the Teamcenter product suite.  This person will be responsible for 
providing project management, mentoring and international coordination 
of the usability services required to support the requirements for this 
customer critical project.  The goal is to provide services and input 
that will result in a positive user experience in the Teamcenter 
product suite.  This role will be guiding and leading usability team 
members and coordinating the work priorities and staff assigned to the 
variety of client projects we are involved in.  This person will be 
responsible for reviewing all the work produced for this client and 
will ensure consistency of design recommendations across projects and 
be actively producing design within the product as well.

This person will be able to work with product development teams that 
are located internationally and locally across the Software Development 
Life Cycle.  You will be measured by your ability to prioritize 
projects, prepare a usability plan, execute and deliver with timeliness 
and with quality.  You will also be measured by your effectiveness with 
your peers and development partners and the resulting outcome of the 
product’s usability.  Identifying metrics and collecting those 
throughout the project is essential.

We follow a User Centered Design process, with UI Guidelines, UI Design 
Patterns and a Usability Newsletter that is published for the entire 
product organization.  These are updated quarterly to reflect our 
iterative design process and user validation process.  This person will 
be practicing user centered design activities throughout the software 
development lifecycle to include Analysis, Design, Testing and Training 
while providing guidance to other members of the Usability team.  We 
provide services and collaborate on software designs with a variety of 
our product teams.  Services include: user and task analysis, 
conceptual design, prototyping, usability testing and usability 
training.

Prerequisites and Essential Functions:
Activities & Responsibilities:
-Work with Product Management and Product Development to define and 
plan a product release
-Be a project manager of the user centered design techniques to be used 
and deliverables to be produced over the course of the product release
-Create and maintain a usability plan for assigned projects you are 
leading.
-Instruct others and/or provide the following:
	* Gather and review user and task data from a variety of sources
	* Gather and analyze customer data
	* Design and prototype user interfaces for web-based and desktop 
software
	* Develop usability test plans and conduct usability tests
	* Assist in developing curriculum and teaching usability courses to 
various groups in the organization
	* Facilitate design meetings
	* Ensure user interface design consistency across all product modules
	* Work with the usability, product and development teams to develop 
and write standards and guidelines
	* Perform detailed design and assist with user interface specifications
	* Collaborate with product teams to prioritize usability issues
	* Champion the importance and the process of user-centered design
	* Mentor your product team and usability peers in the usability design 
process and techniques

The Ideal Candidate will have:
-BA/BS, MA/MS or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors 
Psychology/Engineering, Cognitive Psychology, Industrial Design, Visual 
Design, or related field, PLUS applicable project experience.
-Three or more years of software usability experience, preferably in a 
web-based environment
-Three or more years of experience in user interface design
-Experience designing commercial software products
-Excellent organizational and communication skills
-UI Design and prototyping skills (HTML and Java knowledge a plus)
-Knowledge of customer data gathering and analysis methods such as 
contextual inquiries, user profiling, task analysis, focus groups, etc.
-Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams of designers, 
software developers, QA staff, technical writers, and external 
consultants and clients
-A thorough understanding of a variety of software development processes
-The ability to work autonomously and collaboratively to bring projects 
to completion
-Experience in Product Data Management, Product Lifecycle Management 
would be helpful, but not required
