Well, I've been both a designer and a programmer for longer than a decade so
this is not news to me, but the vast majority of programmers just aren't
equipped at all to deal with architecture/usability/interaction/IA/UI
issues, period. I've met a lot of procedural programmers who were tasked
with these chores and they dreaded it. That's why most of the intranet apps
out there (mostly done by these folk) are vintage Soviet-era contraptions.
