Leonard,

Companies *are* hiring information architects and other user experience
professionals (see below for a sample of job postings from the AIfIA job
board in January).  That said, I suspect that supply still exceeds
demand, which remains the case across a broad swath of IT positions.
But from my perspective, things are already better this year than last,
and will hopefully be significantly improved by the time you graduate.
