[Sigia-l] UI job requirements

Less uncommon than you might think. Stanford and other schools are turning
out more and more well rounded folks with HCI and programmign skills. in
fact, to take the stanford HCI program, you do have to learn to program.

Orkut was designed and built by one man-- one thing the design blogs all
agree on (though they often hate the graphic design) is that the interaction
design is pretty good. A few bloopers, but generally excellent.

Programmer/UI folks are moderately common in silicon valley, and I don't
think they are going away. many jobs here require you to be able to design
and build the front end. While teh individual may not be an expert in IA, or
user research, one person who can design, program and knows HCI principals
could well be the perfect match for a small company just getting on its
feet.
