I don't think it's weird. I think it's perfectly understandable.

Work is one of the main ways we define ourselves in western culture,
blogs are a way of defining yourself online, and the combination
seems obvious. It may not make sense from a job security
perspective, but I think it makes total sense when you think about
how people construct themselves.

Ziya didn't understand it. He said he didn't "get this urge to
*publicly* comment on one's job and employer. What's the point?" I
was just tossing out my pet theory in response to that.

Like you said, you talk about work cause you love what you do and
thus blogging about it seems natural.

But people who blog about their sex life--that seems weird. If you
buy my theory about creating a personal identity and blogging about
your work, then people blogging about their sex life seems kinda
creepy. Of course, it can make for fascinating reading!
