I think another interpretation of Todd's response is that it is about
appreciation. A token to show you appreciate someone and thinking of
something they wouldn't ordinarily do for themselves is a very nice gift of
appreciation that goes beyond the cost of the donation of money or time that
the person has already given.

I have a for-profit world here where I'm dealing w/ multi-millionaires and I
have tried to think about it and my suggestion has been a gift certificate
at a fancy restaurant. Yes they could afford it on their own, but this is a
nudge for them to actually go where they might not think to take the time to
do so.
