[Sigia-l] FW: Map-type interfaces for stock exchange

Hi all,

I have been asked to look into the possibility of using
an interface similar to the maps of the stock exchange
where one rectangle represents a quotation. In this type
of interface, the color of the rectangle indicates wheter
the value is up/down, the surface indicates the total
capitalization. Companies are grouped by type of value
(financial, tech, Industrial
). Here is an example :
http:// www.smartmoney.com, then click on “Maps - Map of the market”

Now here is the question : does anybody have any experience
implementing such an interface?
Are there easy/cheap components to do it?
Any ideas of what it would take to develop one such
component in ASP.NET?

The use we would make of this kind of map would be somewhat simplified,

as all the rectangles would be the same size, and the values displayed
would probably be discreet (6 different possible values only, coded by
color).

Thank you,

Francis Vila
