It might not be as bad as you think - your stats show that 15% of people
stay more than 4 minutes and about 24% stay for longer than a minute. (as
always, the meaning of statistics is in the interpretation...:)
If the content is highly focussed and very heavy, this means you are getting
positive results with about 1 in 4 people bothering to stay for a while. I
don't even watch TV channel for 20 minutes let alone stay on a website that
long.
Bearing in mind the complex (slightly random, highly variable...) choices
people make when finding sites through search engines, you might want to try
and differentiate those who came by mistake from those who come with intent
to find what you have to offer. Do you refer people directly?
This will improve the stats - then you can start thinking about how you
improve the relevance of the audience.
My advice: Interpret the statistics, claim total success and request massive
funding to further drive take up...
Cheers,
jod
