One thing I like to look for when interviewing an "interaction-design"
type of IA is strong language skills. Things like proper grammar, a good
vocabulary, and even correct spelling are must-haves when I hire IAs. 

I'm not saying that this is anywhere near equivalent to a LIS degree,
but IMHO without these skills an "interaction-design" IA will not be
able to wear the "taxonomy/classification" hat very well.
