There was some talk in this thread about the problems that arose with states
trying to regulate the use of the term 'Engineer'. The 'Software Engineers'
didn't win all of those battles. In Texas, it is illegal to use the term
'Software Engineer' anyplace other than within your organization. So a
business card would need to say something other than Engineer unless you
wanted the Society of Professional Engineers to come after you, which
apparently they actively do.

If the AIA decides to make it an issue, some state or other will ban the use
of the term architect in any other context save designing a building.
